Antonietta is a novel written by American Pulitzer-Prize winning author John Hersey.
Published in 1991, the novel traces the history of the titular violin, a fictitious creation of Antonio Stradivari, recounting its usage under multiple owners interspersed with what Hersey describes as "intermezzi", interludes of fact.
[4][5] In each section, the writer adopts a writing style to mirror the personality and perspective of the owner.
"[5] Publishers Weekly opined that while even non-music fans might enjoy the novel, which "satisfies on several levels", "the music lover will be doubly enchanted by a virtuoso performance.
"[6] The Victoria Advocate summarized it as "a rare novel indeed, and for music lovers a gem of sparkling brilliance.
