[1] Founded in 2008, it takes place over four days in February each year, and focuses equally on fiction, animation and documentary, as well as TV and video games.

Since 2020, the festival has simultaneously run online events, aimed at young people across the UK.

[8] 2017 and 2020 award winner Charlotte Regan has subsequently been nominated by BAFTA and won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic at Sundance Film Festival for her debut feature, Scrapper.
