The township is approximately halfway between the city of Grayling to the east and the village of Kalkaska to the west.
Bear Lake is an unincorporated community and census-designated place within the northwest portion of the township.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 746 people, 340 households, and 227 families residing in the township.
There were 1,072 housing units at an average density of 15.0 per square mile (5.8/km2).
25.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
