Berlin Township was organized March 20, 1820 prior to the formation of Holmes County which occurred January 20, 1824.
[5] Statewide, other Berlin Townships are located in Delaware, Erie, Knox, and Mahoning counties.
[6] A major attraction for visitors is the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center providing a glimpse of the traditional ways of the Amish and an illustrated history in its extensively large mural called Behalt.
[7] The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
[9] According to the 2019 "ACS 5-Year Estimates Data Profiles", the percentage of English only speakers decreased to 35.7%, while speakers of "other Indo-European languages"[3] (basically Pennsylvania Dutch/German), increased to 64.0% of the township's population.
