Buena Vista, Mississippi

Buena Vista, also known as Monterey, is an unincorporated community in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, United States.

[2] The community was originally named Monterey in honor of the Battle of Monterrey, where the Mississippi Rifles served under Colonel Jefferson Davis.

[6] The first agricultural high school in Mississippi opened in Buena Vista in 1908.

[8] Soldiers from this company served with the Army of Northern Virginia in many battles, including First Manassas, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Chickamauga, and the Appomattox campaign.
