[3] Burnhamville Township was organized in 1870, and named for David Burnham, an early settler who had been a blacksmith at the Winnebago Indian Agency in Long Prairie prior to homesteading in the township just after the Civil War.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 751 people, 282 households, and 210 families residing in the township.
There were 559 housing units at an average density of 17.7 per square mile (6.8/km2).
There were 282 households, out of which 31.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.4% were married couples living together, 2.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% were non-families.
20.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
