Catawba, Virginia

Catawba is an unincorporated community in the northern section of Roanoke County, Virginia, United States.

Catawba is known as a rural enclave of the Roanoke Valley with its farms, bed and breakfasts, and the Homeplace Restaurant.

The Catawba Hospital, a mental health facility operated by the Commonwealth of Virginia, is near Route 311[4] and traces its history back to a resort established in 1857 to take advantage of the believed healing properties of a sulfur and limestone spring.

These three landmarks are referred to as the Triple Crown of hiking in Virginia, and experienced hikers can climb to all three overlooks in a 32 mile loop.

[7] The Anderson-Doosing Farm and Johnsville Meetinghouse are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
