[3] Cherry Valley was started in 1882, when upon the completion of the Helena & Iron Mountain Railway through Cross County, local resident G.W.

Stacy constructed a hotel at a site on the line adjacent to a grove of Cherry trees.

[5] Cherry Valley is located in northern Cross County at the western edge of Crowleys Ridge.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.85 square miles (2.2 km2), all land.
