Chester County Hospital

Opened in 1892, the hospital joined University of Pennsylvania Health System in 2013.

Built in Italian Renaissance style, the new building was funded by a $1,000,000 donation from Pierre S. du Pont.

The gift was in honor of his former associate Lewes A. Mason, who had died in the care of the hospital during the Spanish flu.

[1][4][5][6][7] Chester County Hospital operated independently until it joined the University of Pennsylvania Health System in 2013.

[7] Chester County Day, an annual event focusing on tours of local historic homes, is organized by and raises money for the hospital.
