Coahoma is north of Friar Point Road, 2 miles (3 km) west of U.S. Route 61 and 6 miles (10 km) east of the town of Friars Point on the Mississippi River.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Coahoma has a total area of 0.19 square miles (0.5 km2), all land.

The racial makeup of the town was 98.2% African American, 1.5% White and 0.3% from two or more races.

29.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

Residents are served by Coahoma County Junior-Senior High School.
