Corning is a town in Steuben County, New York, United States.

The town is in the eastern part of the county and borders the city of Corning.

[citation needed] The first settlement was near the current city of Corning around 1789.

In 1836, the name was changed to honor an important investor in the local economy.

21.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
