According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 11.4 square miles (30 km2), all land.
The township is situated within the Downingtown Area School District.
US 322 follows a northwest-southeast alignment along Horseshoe Pike through western and southern portions of the township, while PA 282 follows Creek Road along the banks of East Branch Brandywine Creek along the northern and eastern edges of the township.
