As a teenager, Fontana took the entrance exam and was approved for dance at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, but ended up dropping out because he was unable to support himself financially.

At the age of 19, he decided to drop his studies and his job in Brazil to live in Skellefteå, Sweden.

In the same month, Fontana vented on social media about xenophobic attacks he suffered after the series announcement.

In an interview with Universo Online, Fontana told that they were once taken by a family friend to exorcism sessions, for an exorcist to expel "homosexual demons" from their body.
