Freeville, New York

Freeville is a village in Tompkins County, New York, United States.

[3] The Village of Freeville is in the Town of Dryden and is east of Ithaca.

It is the only incorporated municipality in the United States named Freeville.

It was first settled by Daniel White, a Revolutionary War soldier who cleared land along Fall Creek and built a cabin there around 1798; by 1802 White had established a grist mill at the site.

[4] According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.8 km2), all of it land.

31.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
