Higginbotham was elected to the Alabama Board of Education in 1994 also as a Democrat.
During that term he switched to the Republican Party and was re-elected as a member of the GOP.
[7] Born in Calhoun City, Mississippi, he was the son of C.F.
and Mary Alice (née Winters) Higginbotham.
[9] He died at his residence in Opelika, Alabama in 2010 and was buried at Garden Hills Cemetery.
