Grindel (French: Grandelle) is a municipality in the district of Thierstein in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.
[3] Grindel has an area, as of 2009[update], of 3.06 square kilometers (1.18 sq mi).
[4] The municipality is an S-shaped linear village located in the Thierstein district.
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Gules a Fir tree Vert trunked Sable issuant from a Base of the second and a Fence fesswise of the third.
[8] Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (484 or 98.0%), with French being second most common (4 or 0.8%) and Italian being third (1 or 0.2%).
[9] As of 2008[update], the gender distribution of the population was 50.5% male and 49.5% female.
[7] The age distribution, as of 2000[update], in Grindel is; 44 children or 8.9% of the population are between 0 and 6 years old and 90 teenagers or 18.2% are between 7 and 19.

In the federal election, a total of 175 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 48.1%.
[8] There were 239 residents of the municipality who were employed in some capacity, of which females made up 40.6% of the workforce.
In the tertiary sector; 6 or 42.9% were in wholesale or retail sales or the repair of motor vehicles, 4 or 28.6% were in the movement and storage of goods, 3 or 21.4% were in education.
[8] From the 2000 census[update], 396 or 80.2% were Roman Catholic, while 38 or 7.7% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church.
The education system in the Canton of Solothurn allows young children to attend two years of non-obligatory Kindergarten.
All the lower secondary students from Grindel attend their school in a neighboring municipality.
