Zullwil

Zullwil is a municipality in the district of Thierstein in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.

Zullwil has an area, as of 2009[update], of 3.64 square kilometers (1.41 sq mi).

Of the rest of the land, 0.35 km2 (0.14 sq mi) or 9.6% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes.

[3] The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Quarterly Sable and Argent two Staffs fleury counterchanged in saltire.

[7] Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (570 or 94.1%), with Albanian being second most common (15 or 2.5%) and French being third (4 or 0.7%).

At the same time, there was 1 non-Swiss man who immigrated from another country to Switzerland.

[6] The age distribution, as of 2000[update], in Zullwil is; 50 children or 8.3% of the population are between 0 and 6 years old and 106 teenagers or 17.5% are between 7 and 19.

The greatest number of single family homes (30) were built between 1946 and 1960.

[7] The historical population is given in the following chart:[12] In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the FDP which received 31.07% of the vote.

In the federal election, a total of 209 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 46.0%.

[7] There were 295 residents of the municipality who were employed in some capacity, of which females made up 39.3% of the workforce.

In the tertiary sector; 3 or 27.3% were in wholesale or retail sales or the repair of motor vehicles, 2 or 18.2% were in a hotel or restaurant, 5 or 45.5% were in education.

[7] From the 2000 census[update], 438 or 72.3% were Roman Catholic, while 61 or 10.1% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church.

The education system in the Canton of Solothurn allows young children to attend two years of non-obligatory Kindergarten.

All the lower secondary students from Zullwil attend their school in a neighboring municipality.
