The team originally did not qualify, but after Puerto Rico declined its quota earned at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico, the country was allowed to enter a duet as the first reserve.
Guatemala received a reallocated quota spot in the water skiing competitions.
