Hilda Bridges

Hilda Maggie Bridges (19 October 1881 – 11 September 1971) was an Australian novelist, short story writer and music teacher.

Her younger brother, Royal Tasman Bridges, known as Roy, was a journalist and novelist, for whom she acted as housekeeper, secretary and companion.

[2] In 1922 she adapted The Squatter's Daughter, the 1907 play by Bert Bailey and Edmund Duggan into a novel which was published by the NSW Bookstall Company.

[5] On her brother Roy's death in 1952, Bridges presented a complete set of his books to the State Library of Tasmania.

At that time there was no system of legal deposits in place and the donation was applauded by Sir John Morris, chairman of the library board.
