Professor Jones, Dieterhoffmann, and Seigfried witnessed the marvel of blood streaming from the tip of the spear, though Indiana, a skeptic, was unable to see the miracle.

Aboveground, Nehrkorn escaped in the one remaining car, and O'Neal, Stein and the Joneses watched Seigfried die in religious ecstasy.

Just as he finished his explanation, a radio news flash announced the atomic bombing of Japan, and Jones and O'Neal were reminded of the Spear's power.
