His grandfather, Danding Cojuangco, was an influential businessman and politician who founded the NPC.
His grandmother, Gretchen Cojuangco, and his aunt, actress and former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, are well-known personalities.
Running under the NPC, he won the May 9, 2022 elections by a significant margin, defeating independent candidate Joseph Ramac.
