The new 2024-2029 period of the council was officially opened with an inauguration on the 26th of August 2024.
During the Japanese occupation, an advisory body was formed in September 1943.
After the transfer of sovereignty, a temporary elected council of 25 members was established in 1950.
It was intended as a temporary body but ended up lasting until 1956, when new regulations on local legislation were issued.
