The circuit was built from 1959 to 1961 in Kumalo Airfield, 3 km (1.9 mi) northeast of Bulawayo.
The circuit held the Rhodesian Grand Prix in 1961–1970, and South African Springbok Championship Series in 1969–1971.
After the opening of nearby Breedon Everard Raceway, the circuit was closed in 1971.
