Jan Lindhe (born 1935, Helsingborg) is a Swedish periodontist and a clinical research scientist specializing in periodontology.
He began his career as a professor of roentgenology (now referred to as oral and maxillofacial radiology) in 1957 at Lund.
The title of his 1964 doctoral thesis at Lund was Orthogonal cutting of dentine: a methodological study.
Lindhe was elected dean of the School of Dentistry by the faculty at the University of Gothenburg in 1977.
He keeps close ties to periodontology programs in the United States such as the University of Southern California.
