Joanna Marguerite Wardlaw (born 4 November 1958) is a Scottish physician, radiologist, and academic specialising in neuroradiology and pathophysiology.
[1][2] From 1992 to 1994 she worked as a consultant neuroradiologist at the Institute of Neurological Sciences in Glasgow (now part of Queen Elizabeth University Hospital).
[1][2] She was the founding director of the Scottish Imaging Network: A Platform for Scientific Excellence (SINAPSE), leading the organisation until 2010.
[8] Her current research is focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of strokes, particularly cerebral small vessel diseases.
[9] In 2011 she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE), Scotland's national academy of science and letters.
[11] In the 2016 New Year Honours, she was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) "for services to neuroimaging and clinical science".
