Anderson trained as a painter at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, where he won the John Ruskin Prize for painting.
He then worked as an assistant for Scottish artist Bruce McLean before continuing his studies at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam, where he first began experimenting with video.
He then briefly worked at HHCL, an advertising agency,[2] until moving to a shared studio with fashion designer Flora McLean, for whom he made Dress No.
[4] Anderson has directed short films and commercials in collaboration with fashion designers such as Roksanda Ilincic, Richard Nicoll and Jonathan Saunders,[5][6][7] fashion houses such as Armani and Agent Provocateur,[8][9] as well as companies such as Replay Jeans and Schweppes.
