Kelmentsi (Ukrainian: Кельменці, IPA: [ˈkɛlʲmentsi]; Romanian: Chelmenți) is a rural settlement in Chernivtsi Oblast, western Ukraine.
[2] At the 2001 census, the town's population was 8,007,[1] which consisted mostly of ethnic Ukrainians.
Kelmentsi itself is located in close proximity to the border with Moldova.
Starting in 1960, Kelmentsi was designated an urban-type settlement.
The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Chernivtsi Oblast to three.
