The racial makeup of the township was 85.42% White, 0.83% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 3.69% from other races, and 9.19% from two or more races.

There were 1,191 households, out of which 33.00% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.69% were married couples living together, 8.73% had a female householder with no spouse present, and 26.70% were non-families.

22.40% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.10% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
