The racial makeup of the township was 90.23% White, 0.40% African American, 0.70% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.39% from other races, and 6.03% from two or more races.

There were 786 households, out of which 28.40% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.51% were married couples living together, 8.65% had a female householder with no spouse present, and 32.82% were non-families.
