The 2020 census reported 1,123 people living in the township.

Located in the northern part of the county, it borders the following townships: It is located in the north central part of the county on the Greene County line about halfway between Wilmington and Xenia.

The entire township lies in the Virginia Military District.

The village of Port William is located in northern Liberty Township.

[6] The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
