According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 13.4 square miles (34.7 km2), all of it land.

As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 1,004 people, 335 households, and 277 families residing in the township.

There were 346 housing units at an average density of 25.8 per square mile (10.0/km2).

14.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.8% had someone living alone who was sixty-five years of age or older.

For every one hundred females who were aged eighteen and older, there were 98.9 males.
