BYD Auto is a Chinese car manufacturer that produces a wide range of plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric (BEV) passenger cars, electric buses, electric trucks and other types of road vehicles.
The company had formerly produced internal combustion engine (ICE) cars until 2022, when the company announced that it would focus on PHEVs and BEVs (collectively called "new energy vehicles" or NEVs in China).

The plug-in hybrids are further divided into the DM-i (for "intelligent") and DM-p (for "performance", for torque vectoring in all-wheel drive models) systems.
The DM models are usually paired with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, naturally aspirated or turbocharged.
