Lovrenc na Pohorju (pronounced [ˈlɔ́ːwɾɛnts na ˈpóːxɔɾju]; German: Sankt Lorenzen an der Kärntnerbahn[2][3] or Sankt Lorenzen ob Marburg[2][4]) is a settlement in northeastern Slovenia.
The name was changed on the basis of the 1948 Law on Names of Settlements and Designations of Squares, Streets, and Buildings as part of efforts by Slovenia's postwar communist government to remove religious elements from toponyms.
[6][7][8] The parish church from which the settlement gets its name is dedicated to Saint Lawrence and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maribor.
[10] A community of Jehovah's Witnesses has also been living in Lovrenc na Pohorju since at least the 1970s and built a Kingdom Hall around 2000.
