Mary Esther is a city in Okaloosa County, Florida, United States.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2), all land.
Climate is characterized by relatively high temperatures and evenly distributed precipitation throughout the year.
[6] As of the 2020 United States census, there were 3,982 people, 1,573 households, and 1,149 families residing in the city.
[10] As of the 2010 United States census, there were 3,851 people, 1,770 households, and 1,071 families residing in the city.
The idea of a public library was first proposed on February 4, 1974, to the then Mayor Tom Pryor.
The original building was only 585 square feet, with annual fees ranging from $1.00 per person to $5.00 for a family.
While the new library was being built the state of Florida also elected to give $175,000 in matching funds to help with construction.
