It is the first mosque to be constructed in the Punggol neighbourhood after the earlier Masjid Wak Sumang was demolished along with the adjoining village for urbanisation.
[1][2] It serves the needs of residents in Punggol as well as ease up the space for Friday prayers in the North-East region.
[1][2][3] An architectural company, Formwerkz Architects, designed the mosque's structure and general appearance.
[1][2][3] Before its construction, the mosque of Kampong Wak Sumang existed in Punggol but was demolished in 1995 along with the village to make way for urbanization.
[6][7] The mosque is considered as a center of harmony with various charitable events taking place there.
