Moritz Ellinger (October 17, 1830 – August 27, 1907) was a Kingdom of Bavaria-born Jewish-American journalist and city official.
He was educated at the Fürth Orphan Asylum and spent two years studying at the Würzburg Yeshiva under Seligman Baer Bamberger.
He then entered political life, running as a Republican against Fernando Wood in the strongly Democratic[2] New York's 9th congressional district in the 1870 United States House of Representatives election.
An advocate of Reform Judaism, he used the paper to express the views of Rabbi David Einhorn.
He edited the Menorah Monthly, the official organ of B'nai B'rith,[6] for twelve years[1] following the death of Benjamin F.
