Mountainous Landscape with Saint Jerome

Mountainous Landscape with Saint Jerome is an oil on copper painting by Flemish painter Paul Bril.

[4] The painting belongs to the period when Bril associated with Jan Brueghel the Elder in Rome, in the last decade of the 16th century.

In this painting there are strong local colors with "almost tangible rays of light"; a common feature in Bril.

Another painting (today at the Prado in Madrid) was reportedly acquired by Peter Paul Rubens in the early 17th century.

Compared to the Prado canvas, Bril's small oil on copper painting shows more attention to detail.
