The original Nebraska Crossing Outlets building was a 90,000-square-foot (8,400 m2) Strip mall built in 1991 and opened in 1992.

[3] In August 2014 it was announced two additions would be built at NEX, adding a total of 26,000 square feet to the mall.

[6] In Fall of 2022, popular retailer REI Co-op opened its first Nebraska store, a 22,000 square foot store at Nebraska Crossing featuring a full-service bike shop, gear rentals and more.
