Ocongate District

Created on January 2, 1857, its capital is the town of Ocongate.

The Willkanuta mountain range traverses the district.

Some of the highest peaks are listed below:[1] The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent.

Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (90.98%) learnt to speak in childhood, 8.69% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).
