Oral, South Dakota

Oral is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Fall River County, South Dakota, United States.

[5] A post office called Oral has been in operation since 1894.

[7] Some say Oral is the middle name of the first postmaster's son,[8] (John Oral Goodman, later of Riverton, WY) while others believe the community was so named with the expectation the place would become something people would be talking about.

The hottest temperature recorded in Oral was 112 °F (44.4 °C) on July 7, 1973, while the coldest temperature recorded was −43 °F (−41.7 °C) on December 21, 1983 and December 24, 1983.
