It lies surrounded by farmland, about 2 km east of the Rideau River.
The community was named for William Osgoode, the first Chief Justice of Upper Canada.
[2] Landmarks of the community include the Stuart Holmes Arena for ice hockey, the Osgoode Community Centre and its surrounding recreation facilities, the mall, and numerous shops.
The nearest airport is the Kars/Rideau Valley Air Park, about 5 kilometres (3 mi) away, on the other side of the Rideau River.
