A majority of the county lies within the boundaries of the South Park National Heritage Area.
The headwaters of the South Platte River are located in Park County at coordinates 39°00′40″N 105°44′25″W / 39.0111°N 105.7403°W / 39.0111; -105.7403 (Geographic center of Colorado).
