Turner's fellowship training in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery was completed at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
[1] In October 2011, Turner was named director of the American College of Surgeons' Division of Member Services.
[7] Turner was elected as president of the Society of Black Academic Surgeons (2016 to 2017) and was the first woman to serve in that role.
Wake Forest University Trustees Throughout her career, Turner has been involved in both basic science and clinical research.
