In September 2018, the city of Ypsilanti and the Huron River Watershed Council conducted a report to assess the feasibility of removing the Peninsular Dam and remaining structures.
Excluding the building, the cost of repair was $585,000, most of which could be funded by a grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE).
A 2018 feasibility study, commissioned by the city and the Huron River Watershed Council, estimated the cost of removing the dam at $2.7 million.
