Periklis Pierrakos-Mavromichalis

When asked why he had the surname Pierrakos and used Mavromichalis as a nickname, he replied; because he wanted to keep the heritage of his forefathers who fought and die in order for him to live, and the most famous of his forefathers was Petrobey Mavromichalis (whose real name was Petros Pierrakos)[citation needed].

Periklis Pierrakos-Mavromichalis also competed at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.

[2] Pierrakos-Mavromichalis won the bronze medal in the amateur foil event.
