Phoronis ovalis is a species of marine horseshoe worm in the phylum Phoronida.
These worms secrete a tube into which they can retreat, and burrow into the shells of molluscs.
[4] The haemal, excretory and nervous systems are bilaterally symmetrical, which is not the case with other members of the genus.
[5] Phoronis ovalis is believed to be a hermaphrodite, and the embryos are brooded in the tube.
[5] In 2010 it was reported that Phoronis ovalis was present in beds of molluscs off the coast of Namibia, it having not previously been recorded in Africa.
