Portrait of Prince Albert is an 1859 portrait painting by the German artist Franz Xaver Winterhalter depicting Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the husband of Queen Victoria and Prince Consort of the United Kingdom.
[1] [2] It was the last of several portraits Winterhalter painted of Albert before the prince's death in 1860.
Albert is shown in the uniform of the Rifle Brigade and wearing the star and ribbon of the Order of the Garter.
[3] The original painting remains in the Royal Collection and on display at Buckingham Palace.
In 1867 Winterhalter produced a copy at the command of Queen Victoria.
