Potoni District is one of fifteen districts of the Azángaro Province in Peru.

[1] One of the highest peaks of the district is Taruja Pincha at approximately 4,800 m (15,700 ft).

Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (91.95%) learnt to speak in childhood, 7.92% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).
