It is known only from a mountainous region of the Sierra Madre Occidental in the Mexican State of Chihuahua.
Prionosciadium saraviki is a biennial producing a flowering stalk up to 2 m (7 feet) tall.
It bears a compound umbel with hundreds of small yellow flowers.
The taproot is up to 3 cm in diameter, white with a papery, copper-colored skin.
This is an error because the epithet is the native name for the species, not honoring a person.
