Incorporated on 22 July and established on 1 August 1998, Raintree Pictures was Television Corporation of Singapore's (TCS) subsidiary to produce films.

In 1998, the Singapore movie industry produces the first highly successful movie Money No Enough, where the film received mixed reviews from critics, but earned over S$5.8 million and was the all-time highest-grossing Singaporean film until 2012.

In 2002, Singaporean satirical film I Not Stupid held the top position at the weekend box office chart in Singapore.
